“Pinturas”

Dolores Acuña and Ignacio Valdez are plein air painters. Not in the manner of Van Gogh, who went out into the countryside to paint what he saw, but because their lives are lived far from cities, surrounded by nature, and this is what they capture in a simple yet powerful way. Their paintings and drawings are constructed from a subtle poetic approach, and are simultaneously deconstructed, as if breathing within the frame that contains them.

They are respectful of the process and aware that they are creating the right conditions, like a kind of open air, for that magical moment to occur when they can finally look at the work and feel it's finished. This isn't easy, when abstraction is both the beginning and the end of everything.
